“The Ancient Greek water vessel sheds its skin, as terracotta gives way to glass, thanks to VENINI. Its design speaks of bygone days and rhythms, bringing them back to life: timeless beauty that stands the test of time. Although it is one of the brand’s most recent creations, dated 2016, the Idria vase is an exquisite ode to the past and tradition.”
The overlay technique is one of the oldest glass-working techniques in the history of Murano glass. Producing such wonderful glass art with this technique demands all the expertise of the glass blower. The colours that radiate from Venini vases are unique and remain unrivalled by other Murano glass producers.
The most important Italian glass manufacturer Venini is located on the famous “Glass Island” of Murano. Murano glass is one of the world’s most exclusive and luxury craft objects. The “Idria” vases from Venini are produced using the so-called overlay technique. For these “Idria” vases, a paper-thin layer of coloured glass is “captured” between two transparent coats of glass. The vase’s colour varies depending on the angle of the light on the Murano glass.
