Venini Masterpieces

Venini Masterpieces tell an all-Italian story. Venini is like a powerful incandescent stone from which an invincible material is born. It moves in the lines of time to amaze, creating an emotional and sensorial experience.

Each step confirms the unmistakable identity of this great Made in Italy reality. Now we tell it to you through Venini Masterpieces!

Venini Masterpiece: Creations in hand-blown, hand-finished glass

As if they were conquering Knights, Venini’s reign also has its invincible paladins of style.

These are the Venini Masterpieces that, for years, have conquered the scenes of Contemporary Art, Artisan Avant-garde and Interior Exclusive Design.

Venini Masterpieces: KUKINTO

More than a knight, he is an oriental warrior from the Land of the Rising Sun. Kukinto rises with proud majesty, turning its soft and shiny shapes to the sky like the colored blade of a mortal katana. Designed in the nineties by Timo Sarpaneva for Venini, Kukinto crosses the oceans of time like a fragment of crystal kissed by the rainbow.

Handmade. Signed at base. Murano glass. Wipe clean with soft dry cloth. Made in Italy.

From Kukinto to Yemen, from Geacolor to Veronese, we get to know these Venini Masterpieces, completely handmade thanks to the historical knowledge techniques of the Murano tradition and mouth blowing.

Masterpiece Vase YEMEN

It’s still in the 1990s that Venini with Ettore Sottsass dares to play the combination of geometric shapes. Of the Venini Masterpieces, Yemen more than a knight dresses as Court Jester, who thanks to his playful tones and bright colors, entertains real and not, on a journey towards inspiration and unpredictability.

Venini is the essence of exclusivity. It resides in the exclusive techniques that have been researched over time and which then contaminated genres, styles and artistic inspirations.

Venini Masterpiece: GEACOLOR

Gae Aulenti finds in Venini an earthly, primordial, almost volcanic inspiration. Here among our knights there is a young warrior, who was born from Mother Earth, Geacolor is the quintessence of the cosmos. With its multilayer, Geacolor transmits the power of union and the strength of complementarity. The Geacolor vase, among all, stands out for its rough and granite appearance that surprises for the nature of the element it is made of. A glass that does not show itself, that hides behind an armor, shaped as if it were an earth’s crust. Invincible and destined to persist over the centuries, a small colored planet that hides the delicacy of the art of Murano. The delicacy of the woman is kept behind an impenetrable armor.

Venini boasts the involvement of great artists and architects in the creation of new shapes and chromatic mergers, without betraying the calm and wisdom that is preserved in the Murano craftsmanship and that resists temporary upheavals.

Venini Masterpieces VERONESE

He is the first Venini knight who owes his life to the artist Vittorio Zecchin, who made it in 1921 to pay homage to Paolo Veronese, a sixteenth-century painter, author of the Venetian Annunciation, in which he represented an elegant glass vase next to the Virgin. In addition to recreating the refined vase we find in Veronese, Zecchin makes it the presentation image of the Venini company, which promotes it as an official logo. Over time, the Veronese vase has encountered many color versions, retaining its shape and a privileged place in the heart of Italian design and style in the world.

The “Veronese” vases from Venini are a design by the artist Vittorio Zecchin from 1921. The artist, who was Venini’s art director from 1921 to 1925, took inspiration from a painting by Paolo Veronese, finished in 1580, which is today kept at the Accademia Galleries in Venice: “The Annunciation”. The glass work was so successful, that it became the firm’s logo.

ORIGINS

Murano. During the early 1920s, from an entrepreneurial union between a Venetian antique dealer and a Milanese expert in glass processing, what we all know as the Venini company was born. Already in its first five years of life, the Venetian company, under the artistic direction of the painter Vittorio Zecchin, embarked on a journey in the evasion of schemes related to tradition, and thus let itself go towards experimentation, avant-garde art, and manufacturing techniques increasingly innovative. Successful exhibitions and decorative arts exhibitions begin, these conquer the Italian and – above all – foreign scene. Venini starts collaborations with esthetics, painters, designers and renowned architects of the time, and touches the highest artistic excellence and, thus, matures a high level of experimentation. This growth, announced at the dawn of the sixties, is the turning point towards the affirmation of the Venini style in the world of Contemporary Art and Modern Design, where the rules of avant-garde aesthetics bow to the mastery of the ancient art of making blown and handmade glass.

Where are my Glasses? by Ron Arad:
A very frequently asked question is “where do your ideas come from?”. The answer is “ideas are
all around me – too many of them if anything – the problem is not where to find ideas but which
ideas you give time to. Occasionally an idea jumps the queue and is impossible to ignore.”
I spent a lot of time recently designing glasses. I spent a lot of time recently blowing glass, so the
idea of blowing glass into glasses sprouted from the verbal pun into reality.
An idea that jumped the queue!
The process started – sketches, modelling, rendering, making iron frames and the incredible
Venini masters blowing molten glass into glasses.
Not only an amazing exciting time by the furnaces, but also my favourite results – getting
    something better than one deserves.
So, where are my glasses? Well, it’s transparent!
