The famous fishnet décor adorning many of the animals took form in 1858 when a Herend painter became inspired by a fishscale design he saw on a Chinese porcelain pieces and painted a similar pattern onto a rooster figurine to imitate feathers.
A ferocious polar bear evokes the icy tundra of the Arctic with its hand-painted platinum and gray mesh pattern. Intensity of eyes and expertly sculpted muscle tone add a warm counterpoint to this stunning figurine. Porcelain made and hand painted from Hungary with platinum accents.
