The special feature of Saint-Louis’ “Folia” glass series is that the engraving starts in the stem. This presents the glass blowers at Saint-Louis with a real challenge, since the glass stem needs to have a defined width in order to be engraved at all. The result: unique crystal glasses that refract the light even more spectacularly. Designer Noé Duchaufour-Lawrance describes the result as giving “the impression of drinking pure light”.
The “Folia” collection takes its inspiration from the surroundings in which the wonderful artwork of Saint-Louis come to life ‒ namely woodland in Lorraine in the north-east of France. It was these woods that provided the designer Noé Duchaufour-Lawrance with the inspiration for the “Folia” collection. All the “Folia” glasses by Saint-Louis bear the distinctive pattern of the collection ‒ closely arranged conical shapes that refract the light in an inimitable way.
The range of vases is composed of two clear creations and one numbered and limited exceptional piece, in clear satin-finished crystal. With their generous silhouette and their tapered neck, these vases can magnify minimalist as well as opulent compositions.
