The “Catene Red” collection is inspired by a draft by Gio Ponti for Ginori dating back to 1926. In the late 20s his strict-looking designs sparked a minor revolution. His geometrical arrangements broke with the very playful conventions which dominated the fashion in porcelain at that time.
The “Catene Red” by Ginori is decorated with an unusually eye-catching design resembling the rectangular links of a chain coupled to each other. The red links of the chain are in exciting contrast to the pure white of the porcelain. The platinum refinement of the design lends the “Catene Green” dinnerware an opulent character.
Gio Ponti was for many years the chief designer for the Italian porcelain manufacturer Ginori from Florence. He particularly appreciate the various and sometimes very extravagant designs of the different Ginori collections. Even today every individual item is produced by hand in Italy by true masters of their craft.
