Puiforcat is a family-owned cutlery workshop that began making silverware at the end of the nineteenth century.
They started by recreating classic masterpieces Haute Couture carefully selected by Louis-Victor Puiforcat. However, Puiforcat Maison owes its fame to Jean Puiforcat, the son of Louis-Victor.
He was a founder of modern the Art Deco style in silversmithing that since 1920 implemented geometric details and clear architectural characteristics into its creations.
Within silverware artworks, Jean Puiforcat dedicated himself to graphic paintings. Connecting, combining and interchanging various letters, he gave life to unprecedented alphabetic combinations that furthermore were used to decorate the finest porcelain dinnerware with a name Initiales.
