H Deco Black Porcelain Small Plate
The Hermès H Deco Bread and Butter Plate n°2 is a distinctive black porcelain plate designed for serving bread, butter and small accompaniments. Its black surface is decorated with a delicate white geometric pattern, creating a striking contrast across the plate.
At the centre, the iconic double-H “Lift” motif is surrounded by an intricate geometric decoration that radiates across the plate. The design draws inspiration from the Art Deco ironwork of Hermès’ Parisian stores, transforming architectural details into a refined tableware motif.
The double-H “Lift” motif recalls the elevator and main entrance door of the historic Hermès store at 24 Faubourg Saint-Honoré in Paris. The two interlaced Hs also echo the union of Émile Hermès and Julie Hollande in 1900.
Designed by Benoit Pierre Emery, the plate combines a bold monochrome appearance with the craftsmanship of Hermès tableware. The decoration is screen-printed and applied by hand, and the piece is made in France.
Care Instructions
The plate can occasionally be washed in the dishwasher, although Hermès recommends hand washing with a soft, non-abrasive sponge to preserve the decoration. It is not microwave-safe due to the presence of precious materials.
