Murano Glass Hourglass with Incalmo Technique in Lilac
The Venini Clessidra Sommersa Lilac Mint Green Hourglass, designed by Paolo Venini in 1957, reinterprets the traditional hourglass through refined Murano glassmaking. Two glass sections are blown separately and later joined using the demanding incalmo technique, a Venetian method that fuses different blown elements into a perfectly aligned composition.
In this version, delicate lilac and mint green tones create a gentle chromatic contrast that highlights the purity and transparency of the glass. The meeting line between the two colors emphasizes the precision required by the incalmo process, a technique mastered by only a few Murano glass artisans. Created as a decorative Murano glass object, this designer hourglass adds sculptural interest to desks, shelves, or curated interiors.
