Its design originates from a 17th-century marble vase sculpted by Jean Cornu, still visible in the gardens of Versailles Castle. To celebrate the centenary of the original vase, Saint-Louis created this miniature version, transforming an iconic shape into a versatile decorative object. Created in 1950, the Versailles vase exemplifies the skill and precision of Saint-Louis glassblowers and cutters. Even the largest models require seven to eight weeks of meticulous work. The shape, with its diamond and slice cuts, draws inspiration from the urns in the Gardens of Versailles, offering the purest expression of French style.
