Contemporary French Crystal Wine Glass Set for Wine Tasting
The Saint Louis Cadence Wine Glasses bring Pierre Charpin’s contemporary approach to a classic piece of French tableware. The set contains six clear crystal N°3 wine glasses. The size works well for serving red, white or rosé wine at everyday meals and more formal occasions.
The shape is carefully balanced, with a low centre of gravity, flat vertical ribs running along the stems and horizontal cords across the bowls. The lips are slightly flared, giving the top of each glass a clean and open profile. These details give the wine glasses a distinctive geometric character.
Cadence was created by Pierre Charpin in collaboration with Saint Louis as a collection of 29 pieces. The design is based on the meeting of vertical and horizontal cuts, inspired by the repeated gestures used by Saint Louis artisans. The regular pattern also increases the way light is reflected through the clear crystal, bringing more definition to the simple form.
Each glass is mouth-blown and hand-cut at the Saint Louis manufacture in Saint-Louis-lès-Bitche, Moselle, France. This combination of traditional crystal production and contemporary design makes the set suitable for modern interiors, minimalist dining rooms and more traditional tables that use fine French crystalware.
