+39 391.345.6441This beautiful hand painted elephant is a replica of an ancient figurine depicting an elephant carrying goods along the Silk Road. The Silk Road was an interconnected series of ancient trade routes extending from China to the Mediterranean Sea.
The Silk Road not only served as a means of moving valuable goods back and forth, it was also significant for bringing in new cultural influences. This pink elephant figurine certainly demonstrates this oriental influence through its highly ornate decorative style, including the dramatic carpet on the back.
The figurine was reprinted from the Herend archives to commemorate the Manufacture’s 180th anniversary.
