Hermès Balcon du Guadalquivir Design
Designed by Arielle de Brichambaut, Hermès Balcon du Guadalquivir translates the ornamental language of Andalusian architecture into a distinctive porcelain design. The collection takes its inspiration from the wrought-iron balconies of southern Spain, whose intricate structures are reinterpreted as flowing decorative motifs in vivid red.
The decoration creates a striking graphic rhythm across the porcelain, combining ornamental lines, arabesque curves and geometric details with the varied forms of the service. Rather than reproducing one identical pattern across every piece, the designs evolve according to each shape, giving individual pieces their own character while maintaining a coherent visual identity.
The collection brings the Hermès aesthetic to different dining and entertaining occasions, from everyday table settings to more formal meals and tea or coffee service. Its coordinated forms allow individual pieces to be collected over time or combined to create a complete table setting.
Hermès uses screen-printed decoration applied by hand on the porcelain, and the collection is made in France. Balcon du Guadalquivir can occasionally be washed in the dishwasher but is not microwave-safe, according to Hermès care instructions. The combination of French porcelain craftsmanship and intricate Andalusian-inspired decoration gives the collection its distinctive character within Hermès tableware.
