Hermès Carnets d’Équateur Design
Designed by naturalist artist Robert Dallet, Hermès Carnets d’Équateur brings a rich and expressive vision of wildlife to the table. Jaguars, macaws, panthers, impalas and other animals appear within lush natural settings, transforming each porcelain piece into part of an illustrated world. Hermès describes the collection as a celebration of animal beauty, where Dallet’s work moves from spontaneous sketches to highly detailed, realistic gouache paintings.
The collection is particularly distinctive because its animal compositions vary across the tableware, giving individual pieces their own visual character while maintaining a coherent design language. The 41-piece service is created for lunch, dinner and tea and coffee, with additional decorative objects extending the collection beyond the dining table. This broad selection allows collectors to combine different animal motifs or create a coordinated Hermès table setting.
Hermès uses screen-printed decoration applied by hand, with a fine gold line painted by hand to complete the designs. The pieces are made in France, combining porcelain craftsmanship with the precision required to reproduce Dallet’s detailed wildlife illustrations and the collection’s delicate gold accents. The range includes dinner and dessert plates, soup plates, bowls, bread and butter plates, cups and saucers, mugs, teapots, creamers, platters, tureens and other serving and decorative pieces.
Because the decoration includes precious metals, Hermès recommends hand washing with a soft, non-abrasive sponge to preserve the beauty and luster of the designs. The pieces can occasionally be washed in the dishwasher but are not microwave-safe. Individual Carnets d’Équateur pieces can therefore be collected over time, combined into a complete table setting or selected as distinctive Hermès gifts and decorative objects.
