Hermès Animaux Nattés Design

Designed by Tong Ren, Hermès Animaux Nattés creates a playful world where nature and imaginative creatures come together through colorful animal illustrations. A giraffe, dragon, horse, lobster, butterfly, turtle and fish appear among the collection’s lively designs, creating a distinctive visual language for children’s tableware. Hermès describes the collection as a world where nature and mischievous creatures coexist. 

The design is inspired by the art of braiding, an artisan technique that Tong Ren translates into graphic lines, interwoven patterns and blocks of color. The braided effect gives the illustrations a distinctive texture and creates a playful sense of movement across the porcelain, while the individual animal motifs give each piece its own character. 

Animaux Nattés is conceived around the afternoon-snack ritual for children and adults, with the design extending across coordinated porcelain pieces and sets. The collection includes a four-piece baby gift set, sets of mugs and plates, and an afternoon-snack set, allowing the pieces to be used individually or combined for a playful and coordinated table setting. 

The decoration is created using hand-laid chromolithography printing, combining detailed colorful imagery with French porcelain craftsmanship. The pieces are made in France, and Hermès states that the collection is dishwasher and microwave safe, making Animaux Nattés particularly suited to everyday use.
