Venini Accenti Vase in Murano blown and hand-crafted white glass with red and ivory parts, gift-wrapped.
1 pc – Ø 15 cm, h 53 cm (5.9″D – 20.86″H) read more...Venini occupies a very special and unique place in the world of twentieth century Italian glass. Founded in 1921 by Paolo Venini, a lawyer from Milan passionate about glass, Venini created an unrivaled expression of modernism in glass which the company has maintained throughout its eighty years of existence.
From the very beginning Venini engaged artists and architects, both Italian and foreign, to develop its products: Paolo Martinuzzi, Carlo Scarpa and Gio Ponti in the thirties and forties, Tapio Wirkkala, Timo Sarpaneva, Jamie Carpenter and Toots Zynsky in the sixties and seventies; Mario Bellini, Alessandro Mendini and Ettore Sottsass in the eighties and nineties to mention a few.
Although Venini was sold out of the family in 1985, the company has steadfastly maintained its visionary outlook through the sensitive direction of Roberto Gasparotto, who joined the firm in 1992. The current owner Giancarlo Chimento has opened the door to a larger international group of artist and designers. -

The opaque white glass known as lattimo was invented in Murano some time around the middle of the 15th century in an attempt to imitate porcelain, which was then beginning to enter Europe in significant quantities. Opaline glass had its golden age in the 1930s, and gives its name to the Opalino collection created by Venini in 1930-35. It’s made by encasing lattimo glass in one or more thin layers of transparent or coloured glass to obtain an intensely vivid and colourful effect.
