Each piece from Venini is a stunning example of Italian workmanship of the highest level in mouth blown Murano glass – and each is one of a kind. The design for the “Déco” vases comes from Napoleone Martinuzzi , who was the artistic director of Venini for many years at the beginning of the twentieth century. In 1930, inspired by the Art Deco movement, he designed these “Deco” vases. His design brings together geometric form with feminine curves. The “Deco” vases from Venini have become coveted collectors pieces among glass connoisseurs.

The porcelain was beginning to enter Europe in significant quantities. The opaque white glass known as lattimo was invented in Murano in the middle of the 15th century. They tried to imitate porcelain. Opaline glass had its golden age in the 1930s. It gives its name to the Opalino collection created by Venini in 1930-35. It’s made by encasing lattimo glass in one or more thin layers of transparent or coloured glass to obtain an intensely vivid and colourful effect.
