Venini Bolle by Tapio Wirkkala

Venini Bottles ‘Bolle’ are designed by Tapio Wirkkala for Venini. This is an ancient glass-making technique to make objects, consisiting of distinct parts joined after heat.

The name, in Venetian dialect literally means “graft” as in joining two parts. The name was giving on the first half of the twentieth century by the Venini factory on Murano, in Venice. The name explain the achieved effect. In simple words two or more elements of different colours fused to create a single piece. The glass artist blows two separate bubbles of glass, opens them and joins them together to form a single bubble. This system requires uncommon technical mastery on the part of the glassblower, but outstandingly beautiful objects have been created, such as those by Thomas Stearns and Tapio Wirkkala for Venini & C. in the early 60s.

This five-piece series of “Bolle” bottles has been one of the classic designs from Venini since the line was conceived in 1966. In the meantime, the “Bolle” bottles can be admired in art museums around the world. Finnish artist Tapio Wirkkala conceived the original design.

Aimed at obtaining multiple areas of different colours on the same surface, all the pieces are joined togeteher very accuarately andf finished as desidered. If necessary, the operation can be repeated over and over.

Founded in 1920 on the famed Venetian island of Murano, Italy, Venini Glassworks honors the uncompromising nature of its master craftsmen by tirelessly seeking new, rich colors and textures that move the art form beyond its traditional limitations and make it truly contemporary. Venini’s nearly century-long commitment to both progress and perfection allows them to offer a collection of decorative objects made of hand-blown Murano glass that is as daring as it is exquisite.

Choosing Venini is an unforgettable experience.
Venini glass inspires emotions, revives memories and puts you in touch with your innermost desires. It brings your dreams to life and creates lasting moments of passion and magic.
